Mildura Region

The region’s strength lies in its diversity and the range of communities that make up the area. Each has its own individual identity and heritage, but wide open spaces, clear skies and friendly locals are assured wherever you go.

The Murray River and surrounding national parks make the area a popular destination for tourists and many international backpackers spend time here picking fruit during harvest.

The Mildura Development Corporation produces a number of fact sheets that provide an overview of the Mildura region.

There are many smaller towns within a short distance of Mildura itself, including Red Cliffs, Merbein, Irymple and Ouyen. These, along with other communities, make up the local government area of Mildura Rural City which has a population of approximately 55,000 people.

More information about the towns of the Mildura region  is available on the Mildura Development Corporation’s website.
